So, from next month, ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐จ๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐จ๐งโ๐ญ ๐ง๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ when moving between Trusts.
This launch also coincides with a ๐ง๐๐ฐ ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐๐ฆ๐๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐ฅ๐จ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ (๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฅ) ๐ฅ๐๐๐ซ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ . https://lnkd.in/dtp–iWw.
This requires Trusts to have a ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฉ (MLOG) which should decide, justify and be held accountable for any additional learning, and assess what can be removed.
This creates a long-overdue ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐๐ข๐๐ง๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ ๐ ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐๐ข๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐.
So, here are my suggestions for more efficient, balanced and beneficial training;
๐๐ง๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐:
1. that your Trustโs statutory training aligns with the new NHSE recommendations.
2. that there is strong ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐๐ข๐๐ง ๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง on your local MLOG. This should, in turn, ensure:
a. that any new mandatory topics are clinically scrutinised, assessed against the burden of completion and have clear, measurable outcomes
b. there is an annual review of existing training, removing any that is redundant/overly burdensome
While we are, I suspect, some way off a world where we actively look forward to online statutory/mandatory training, we are at least a step closer to:
1. A ๐ฃ๐จ๐ข๐ง๐๐-๐ฎ๐ฉ experience for those moving between Trusts
2. Rigorous assessment of ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐๐ฅ๐ย ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ of training
3. Stronger clinician engagement, where we have ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ฒ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ ๐ง๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ
๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ can so easily become ๐ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ซ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐๐ข๐๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ, stripping away our autonomy around learning and adding to workload without adding value. As such, I welcome these new NHSE initiatives.
